The official last open day will be Friday 2nd December 2022.
We’ve have had a brilliant run over the last 18 months with this project and our last six at The Welder have been particularly good, with over 50 community events and gatherings during this period. We would like to extend thanks to all those who have made the project possible, and who have joined our community over this time.
Lately, weekly use and membership numbers have been wildly inconsistent and we have noticed the usual drop off as summer approaches. With this in mind we are taking a pause on the understorey project to allow time to reflect on the project’s kaupapa. We’re assessing the project data, and determining whether to look for project funding and a more permanent home for the initiative in the new year.
If understorey is of value to you and you would continue to use a variation of the space it in future, please let us know! If you have feedback or suggestions that would make a future understorey more useable for you, please also send those through. This feedback will help determine next steps and approach potential funders.
If you have any questions or would like to talk more about understorey’s future, please reach out and kōrero.
